Design even smarter
Making a vehicle as lightweight as possible is one of the things that we, as experts, are happy to help you with. At the same time, we see to it that the material retains its appearance for at least 10 years. After all, what is beautiful should stay beautiful. The use of film often provides an answer. And yes, film weighs a little bit too, but it usually saves one or two coats of paint. Ultimately, you end up with less weight. Incidentally, the interior of trains can also benefit from film. For instance, instead of heavy plywood panels, choose lightweight panels treated with foil in a wood grain structure. It will save you kilos and look just as nice.
Wrapping material in film is also more environmentally friendly than painting over material. This was shown by a Life Cycle Analysis conducted by the University of Twente. It is mainly due to the fact that material treated with film does not need to be cleaned as often. On an annual basis, this yields huge water savings. Cleaning once a month is usually enough instead of every other week. And this is considerably easier because the film prevents dirt (even graffiti varnish) from penetrating the base coat. This means that more environmentally friendly detergents can be used. Good news for cleaning teams!
